The AKG C520 is a very lightweight neckband vocal microphone for singers, musicians, dancers, and presenters. The voice is reproduced particularly clearly and powerfully through a slight frequency boost in the high range.
With microphones with cardioid directional characteristics, sound is picked up from the front. This makes the microphone insensitive to feedback and well shielded from ambient noise. Disturbing background noises caused by the singer's movements are thus minimized. The miniature gooseneck allows the microphone to be optimally aligned. Depending on preference, it can be attached to the right or left side of the neckband.
The neckband is made of spring steel, continuously adjustable, and can be perfectly adapted to the head size. Due to its low weight, the AKG C520 is comfortable to wear. To protect the microphone capsule from moisture such as sweat, the microphone has a drip ring.
The AKG C520 is a condenser microphone and requires a power supply (phantom power) of 9 – 52 volts. It can be connected to the microphone input of the mixing console or to a phantom power supply device via the XLR connector.
