Small diaphragm condenser microphone with output transformer stereo set
The microphone, built in vintage style, features a Class-A signal path with CineMag transformer, Fairchild transistors, and Wima capacitors. As a classic small diaphragm microphone, it is suitable for a variety of applications, including acoustic and electric guitars and basses, drums, piano, strings, or brass instruments.
By using a CineMag output transformer with a nickel core, the WA-84 has a very BIG sound for its small size. Small diaphragm condenser microphones have been built almost exclusively transformerless in recent years to simplify the design and make the manufacturing process more cost-effective. Warm Audio consciously decided against this when developing the WA-84. Instead, a boutique design was created with the legendary sound of the 60s and 70s, known for its crystal-clear yet creamy and soft sound.
