26×38 USB-C audio interface with Synergy Core real-time FX processing

The Discrete 8 Oryx combines Antelope Audio's latest innovations in a powerful, affordable studio hub for producers, sound engineers and bands. Designed for multi-instrument recording and hybrid workflows, it combines flawless conversion and clocking, console-quality preamps, real-time FX processing, advanced headphone tools and extensive routing – all in a rack unit.

Key highlights:

Uncompromising sound quality – latest generation AD/DA converters with a dynamic range of up to 130 dB, supported by Antelope's proprietary 64-bit AFC™ clocking for superior stereo imaging.

World-class preamps – Eight discrete 6-transistor preamps with 75 dB gain, inspired by classic consoles, deliver ultra-clear sound.

Synergy Core Real-Time FX – Powered by 2 DSP and 1 FPGA chips, running 37 built-in effects (compressors, EQs, amps, mic preamps) with imperceptible latency.

Advanced signal processing – Four independent headphone outputs, each with X-Feed and calibration options for precise monitoring and a natural stereo image.

Advanced routing – Virtual patchbay with simultaneous use of all analog and digital inputs and outputs, offering over 60 channels for flexible connectivity.

Experience every mix with uncompromising clarity.

At the heart of the Discrete 8 Oryx are Antelope's latest AD/DA converters (up to 130 dB headroom) and fourth-generation 64-bit AFC™ clocking. Together, they provide a wider stereo image, more depth and details that go far beyond the specifications of the converter chips. Careful implementation and decades of experience in clocking ensure a sound that excels in both recording and playback and is appreciated by audio professionals worldwide.

Record with vintage warmth and modern precision.

The eight discrete preamps are based on a six-transistor topology reminiscent of vintage consoles. With up to 75 dB gain and exceptionally low noise, they capture every nuance with clarity, making them equally suitable for delicate ribbon microphones and punchy drum recordings.

Shape your sound in real time without latency.

The integrated Synergy Core platform with 2 DSPs and 1 FPGA allows you to use a collection of world-class analog effects – from compressors and EQs to amps and reverbs – in real time and without perceptible latency. Perfect for giving singers sophisticated monitoring chains with reverb or offloading CPU-intensive processes during recording and live performance. 37 effects are included, more are available in the Antelope Software Store.

Turn your headphones into a true soundstage.

All four independent headphone outputs are equipped with X-Feed (crossfeed) to simulate listening through speakers, as well as headphone calibration to ensure ultra-precise sound reproduction and stereo imaging. Each musician can enjoy their own optimized mix with real-time effects, all processed by the interface itself with no additional latency.

Connect everything and work without limitations.

With 26×38 simultaneous connections – including 8 preamps, 8 DC-coupled line outputs, ADAT, S/PDIF, reamp outputs, monitor outputs and 4 headphone outputs – the Discrete 8 Oryx is the centerpiece of any studio. Antelope's intuitive virtual patchbay simplifies complex routing and allows you to use all analog and digital channels simultaneously for true hybrid flexibility.

Conversion and clocking:

Class-leading AD/DA conversion with up to 130 dB headroom.

Recording, mixing and playback at up to 24 bit/192 kHz.

Proprietary 64-bit AFC™ technology (Acoustically Focused Clocking) and jitter management algorithm for more width, separation and detail.

Connectivity:

8 × discrete 6-transistor preamps with 75 dB gain for flawless recordings. All function as mic/line inputs, two of them are also Hi-Z inputs, via combo XLR sockets, and deliver 48 V phantom power.

8 × DC-coupled line outputs via D-Sub 25 and 8 × DC-coupled line inputs

Two reamp outputs on TRS-¼" jacks for further amp processing of the guitar signal. They can also be used as an additional stereo monitor output – so you can operate two pairs of monitor speakers simultaneously.

USB 2.0 Type-C port with custom macOS and Windows drivers.

Digitally expandable via ADAT I/O, with 16 available channels.

Digitally expandable via S/PDIF I/O, with 2 available channels.

Via three word clock outputs you can distribute the highly stable clock signal of the interface in your studio, and via a word clock input you can synchronize the Discrete 8 Oryx with other devices.

Footswitch input, which can be used as a single footswitch (via 1/4"-TS jack) to control the dim function and as a double footswitch to control the talkback and dim functions.

Four stereo headphone outputs with separate gain control.

Dedicated stereo monitor output via TRS.

Workflow-optimizing features:

Direct monitoring with Synergy Core FX, processed in real time with imperceptible latency.

X-Feed – headphone crossfeed mode with calibration that emulates the stereo soundstage of monitor speakers.

Customizable presets with signal routing, level adjustments, mixer and effect settings.

Customizable monitoring mixes with adjustable volume, pan and reverb.

Easily accessible talkback on the front panel with built-in microphone.

Front panel with color display, navigation buttons for convenient control of core parameters. Hardware relay-based gain controls for each preamp as well as mode control (mic/line/Hi-Z) via push sequence.

Option to work without connection to a computer (standalone operation).

Remote control of software functions from a separate computer connected to the same network.

Real-time effect processing:

Collection of 37 Synergy Core effects modeled after classic and rare analog outboard devices.

Synergy Core's own onboard platform with 2 × DSP and 1 × FPGA chips for real-time effect processing with imperceptible latency.

Modeling engine that enables coupling with Edge series microphones for real-time use of vintage microphone emulations.
